Landmarks of the Jämsä river valley

The built environment is constantly changing. The speed at which the changes take place varies, but something permanent always remains of the different development phases. The buildings that we notice the most and remember the best are the ones situated by our daily routes, or ones we use as landmarks when we are helping someone find their way.

There are many landmarks also in the Jämsä river valley. Industry and agriculture have created their own buildings in the river valley. Many of the landmarks that were a part of the landscape for a long time have disappeared, like the funny-looking "mushroom school".

Introductions to landmark buildings of the river valley will be appearing in this section during the spring. They also tell of the past and present work and play of the people in the area. You can make suggestions about landmark buildings through the Museum24 Feedback page.
